Russian Forces Reported Just 7 Kilometers Away From Ukraine’s Pokrovsk
The Russian army is reported to be just 7 kilometers away from the outskirts of the city of Pokrovsk, in the Donetsk region, where 80% of the city's critical infrastructure has been damaged.
This was reported by the Head of the Pokrovsk City Military Administration, Serhii Dobriak, on the national telethon.
"Only yesterday there were two shellings. With 6 guided aerial bombs. They shelled the city downtown at 10:30 am, unfortunately, 4 people were wounded, 2 from the first shelling. And at 11:00 pm there were also 3 guided aerial bombs and injured,” Dobriak said. “The target was civilian infrastructure, as usual, critical infrastructure, is almost gone. Almost 80% of it is damaged or destroyed. The enemy is leaving us without electricity, without water, without gas. They are ‘preparing’ us for winter.”
Despite Russia’s constant shelling, around 13 thousand people remain in Pokrovsk, 94 of them are children.
"I am thankful to all our citizens who listened and evacuated. A month and a half ago there were 48,000 people and almost 5,900 children in the city. The situation did change, but the evacuation continues," said Dobriak.
The Pokrovsk direction remains one of the most difficult directions in Ukraine, with heavy fighting continuing. The Russian forces set the goal of capturing the city of Pokrovsk, which is an important logistical and defense center.
