Russian Missile Strike on Sumy Suburb Kills Three, Including Child, and Injures 11

On the evening of May 6, a Russian missile strike targeted Velyka Chernechchyna, a suburb of Sumy in northeastern Ukraine.
“Preliminarily, the enemy struck civilian infrastructure with a ballistic missile,” stated the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
“Three people have died as a result of the strike. A young woman was killed at the scene, while a man and a child later died in the hospital. Eleven others were injured, including five children,” according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (DSNS).

The blast caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure, with more than 20 households affected. Five homes were reportedly destroyed, and several vehicles were damaged. Power outages have also been reported, leaving around 80 residents without electricity, according to Stanislav Polyakov, Deputy Mayor of Sumy.
