A Russian sabotage and reconnaissance unit breached the central part of Pokrovsk in recent days, reaching the vicinity of the railway station and committing violations of international humanitarian law, including the killing of several civilians.
The incursion was confirmed by Ukraine’s 7th Rapid Reaction Corps of the Air Assault Forces in an official statement published on Facebook on October 20.
“In recent days, an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group managed to penetrate the center of Pokrovsk. While advancing, the Russians unfortunately resorted to violating international humanitarian law and killed several civilian residents. This occurred near the railway station,” the statement reads.

According to the military, a joint strike and search team from Ukraine’s Defense Forces successfully located and neutralized the Russian troops, who had been hiding in one of the railway station’s buildings.
“Pokrovsk’s defense is now reinforced with additional forces and assets. Special teams are conducting constant screening of possible entry points into the city and have intensified patrols throughout Pokrovsk,” the military added.

Over the past two days, Ukrainian forces have eliminated 14 Russian soldiers who infiltrated the city.
The 7th Corps also reported that Russian forces are attempting to expand the so-called “grey zone” around Pokrovsk and are making efforts to push into the city from several directions.
Earlier, two 16-year-old teenagers from Russian-occupied Melitopol—Danylo Dakhov and Pavlo Hrymak—died under torture while being held by Russian forces, following accusations of "terrorism" made by the occupying administration.
