Russian Soldier Kills His Daughter, Stabs Wife and Son Before Committing Suicide in Rostov-on-Don
A Russian soldier, on leave from the combat zone, killed his 14-year-old daughter and stabbed his wife and one of his sons on the night of December 19 during a family gathering in Russia’s Rostov-on-Don, according to Komsomolskaya Pravda and 161.ru, citing witnesses. He then committed suicide.
The publications report that the incident involved a family from Yakutia in Russia's Far East. The 37-year-old soldier had been granted a week of leave, but it would have been too short for him to travel home to see his relatives. Instead, he rented an apartment in the center of Rostov-on-Don, where he invited his 33-year-old wife, 14-year-old daughter, and two younger sons.
“According to preliminary statements from his wife, he had been looking forward to this meeting because he missed his loved ones very much,” a source told 161.ru.
After drinking heavily, the father attacked his 14-year-old daughter during an argument.
“He inflicted about six random stab wounds on her. Unfortunately, the knife struck vital organs, and the girl died instantly,” a source told the publication.
“Preliminary findings suggest that he also inflicted random injuries on the others, possibly in a state of emotional distress. The 10-year-old boy has minor cuts and stab wounds on his legs. His wife was injured more severely. Both are currently in the hospital.”
The neighbors called an ambulance and the police. Authorities later found the father's body under the balcony of the high-rise building.
Previously, at the end of November, a court in Saint Petersburg granted Klaud Rommel, a Russian blogger accused of committing a criminal offense involving an 11-year-old girl, the option to avoid pre-trial detention by enlisting in the Russian military under contract.
