Russian Soldier Opens Fire on Larin Family in Kursk Region, Killing Mother

A Russian soldier opened fire on a family in the Belovsk district of the Kursk region on the night of April 30, Pepel reported.
The Larin family, who have several children, were attacked during the night. 41-year-old Olesya Larina died from gunshot wounds, while her husband sustained injuries and is currently in intensive care. The children were unharmed.
According to Pepel, the Russian serviceman entered the home of the large Larin family in the village of Giryi under the pretext of checking documents and opened fire on the married couple.
Locals reported that the soldier appeared to be in an altered state, possibly under the influence of drugs.
The son of Larina reported that his mother, father, and two sisters, aged 6 and 10, were at home that night. “He broke into the house and immediately started shooting,” Ilya Larin told Astra.
The daughter of Igor and Olesya Larina, Natalia, told the publication Agenstvo that before entering the house, the soldier shot at it from outside, damaging the windows, then broke down the door and barged inside.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Investigative Committee of the Kursk region have not commented on the incident in Giryi. The village is located in the Belovsk district of Kursk, which borders Ukraine.
In March, Ukraine’s Defense Forces announced withdrawing from the city of Sudzha in Russia’s Kursk region to take up more strategically advantageous positions along the eastern border of Ukraine.
