Russian State TV Host Says Its Nuke Could Wipe Out Trump’s America With a “Nuclear Tsunami”

Speaking on the State TV channel Russia-1, pro-government host Vladimir Solovyov warned that Russia could destroy both US coasts using nuclear-powered Poseidon torpedoes—underwater weapons designed to trigger a “radioactive tsunami.”
During the broadcast, Solovyov directly addressed US President Donald Trump:
“Will Trump understand that two Poseidons, launched from different sides, could wipe out the US and create a radioactive disaster? That would be the end—nothing will save them.”

“No protective element will help them,” Solovyov declared, referring to US missile defense systems. Framing the hypothetical strike as a response to “Western aggression,” he suggested that Washington underestimates Russia’s capabilities and risks grave consequences if it continues to escalate tensions.
Solovyov, who has been sanctioned by multiple Western governments, frequently uses his platform to promote Kremlin narratives, including the threat of nuclear retaliation. His show, broadcast on one of Russia’s largest state-run TV networks, routinely amplifies Moscow’s most extreme messaging.
What Is the Russian Poseidon Nuclear Torpedo?
The Poseidon (also known as Status-6) is a nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed underwater drone developed by Russia as part of its next-generation strategic deterrent.
Unlike traditional ballistic missiles, Poseidon is designed to travel deep underwater for thousands of kilometers before detonating near coastal targets.

Equipped with a thermonuclear warhead potentially up to 100 megatons, the torpedo is capable of creating a so-called “radioactive tsunami”—a massive underwater explosion that could flood and contaminate large swaths of coastline. It is launched from specially modified submarines, such as the Belgorod-class, and can operate autonomously at speeds of up to 100 km/h.
Russian officials describe Poseidon as a “second-strike” weapon, designed to survive a nuclear exchange and retaliate with overwhelming force. Its ability to bypass traditional missile defense systems makes it particularly concerning to Western analysts.

Although the actual effectiveness of Poseidon in creating tsunamis remains debated, the weapon’s existence—and its use in state media threats—adds a destabilizing element to the global nuclear landscape.
Earlier, on March 31, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence and the Center for Countering Disinformation published a list of 11 prominent Russian propagandists accused of spreading Kremlin-backed disinformation to justify the war against Ukraine. The list includes TV hosts, military correspondents, and media figures closely tied to the Russian government.
