Russian Strike on Kharkiv Kills One and Injures Eleven
On June 23 Russian forces launched airstrikes on Kharkiv, using aerial bombs that resulted in civilian casualties. According to the Kharkiv Regional Administration and Mayor Ihor Terekhov, the attacks caused fatalities and injuries among civilians.“One person has been confirmed dead as a result of the strike on a private residential building… Four people have been injured. Another strike hit a children’s educational institution in a different part of the city, injuring three more,” the Kharkiv Mayor reported.
The airstrikes hit three districts of Kharkiv resulting in widespread power outages, affecting approximately half of the city. Metro services and public transport have been halted as a consequence of the attacks. According to the Head of Kharkiv Regional Administration Oleh Syniehubov, Russian forces have used at least three bombs, targeting different districts of Kharkiv. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, an educational institution sustained damage where a woman was present and suffered minor injuries. She received medical assistance. Nearby residential buildings had windows shattered and facades damaged. In the Kholodnohirskyi district, two houses in the private sector were affected by the strike. The strike in the Kyivskyi district targeted an industrial area. Kharkiv Mayor assured residents that efforts are underway to deploy buses to mitigate the disruption caused by the halted transportation services.
On June 22, the Russian military launched four airstrikes targeting a densely populated residential area in Kharkiv. These strikes, which used precision-guided munitions, resulted in significant damage, with two people killed and 53 others injured.
