Russian Strike on Kryvyi Rih Kills a Child, More Casualties Reported in Dnipro
On the night of September 21, 2024, Russian forces launched a missile attack on a residential area in Kryvyi Rih, resulting in both fatalities and injuries.
According to local authorities, the head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Lysak, and the head of Kryvyi Rih’s Defense Council, Oleksandr Vilkul, three people were confirmed dead, including a 12-year-old boy. Two women, aged 75 and 79, also lost their lives in the attack.
Emergency services responded swiftly, with search and rescue operations ongoing amid concerns that more people may be trapped under the rubble. In addition to the fatalities, three individuals sustained injuries: a 17-year-old boy and two men aged 31 and 50. All have been hospitalized in moderate condition.
The strike caused significant damage to private residential homes, with two houses catching fire, which were later extinguished by firefighters. More than 20 houses were damaged, and two were completely destroyed. Local infrastructure, including a school, a garage, and vehicles, also sustained damage.
Meanwhile, in Dnipro, the number of those injured from a Russian strike on September 20 has risen. According to Serhii Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, a 53-year-old man sustained a fracture and is receiving outpatient treatment. Initially, it was reported that only one person was injured in the attack, which also partially destroyed an educational center.
