Russian Troops Build Up Along Chernihiv Border to Tie Down Ukrainian Forces and Stretch Defenses

Russian forces continue to maintain a presence along the border with Ukraine’s Chernihiv region, putting pressure on Ukrainian troops and preventing the redeployment of units to more active frontlines.
This was reported on May 27 by Vadym Mysnyk, spokesperson for the “Siversk” Operational Tactical Group, during the national news telethon.
“We observe military presence all along the border. They are keeping us tense and tying down our combat units so that we cannot redeploy them to hotter areas of the front,” Mysnyk stated.

According to him, the highest concentration of Russian troops and shelling is observed opposite Sumy region, particularly in Russia’s Kursk region.
Mysnyk also mentioned that Russian forces are attempting to expand the area of combat operations. However, Ukrainian defenders are actively holding the line, inflicting losses on Russian forces and preventing any advancement deeper into Ukrainian territory.
On the same day, analysts from the DeepState project reported Russian advances near populated areas in Sumy, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions, including movements near the villages of Bilovody (Sumy) and Kamyanka (Kharkiv).
Previously, it was reported that Russia has taken control of several villages in Ukraine’s northern Sumy region as it presses forward with its stated goal of creating a “buffer zone” along the border.
