Russian soldiers who refuse to extend their military contracts are being deployed to the Kursk region, where they are subjected to high-risk “meat grinder” assaults, according to the partisan movement ATESH on Telegram on January 30.
An ATESH agent embedded in the Russian Armed Forces reports that commanders in the 64th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade are pressuring soldiers to sign contracts for at least three years.
“Soldiers are being forced en masse to sign contracts for at least three years, and those who refuse are being transferred to the Kursk sector. At the same time, the command is making veiled hints about their likely fate there—'zeroing out' in 'meat grinder' assaults,” the statement reads.
Russia frequently employs “meat grinder” assaults in its war against Ukraine, sending large waves of poorly trained and expendable troops into heavily fortified positions with little regard for casualties.
Previously, it was reported that Russias forces are suffering heavy losses in attempts to gain control in Kursk region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that 4,000 North Korean soldiers, out of 12,000 deployed, have been killed in battles on the Kursk front.
