On the night of March 4, attack drones targeted an oil refinery in the city of Syzran, Samara region, Russia.

Russian Telegram channels, including Baza and SHOT, reported that explosions were heard near the oil refinery, followed by a fire.

Samara region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev confirmed an attack on “one of Syzran’s industrial facilities,” claiming that Russian air defense had neutralized the drones.

The Syzran oil refinery was previously attacked on February 19 prompting it to temporarily suspend its operations. The same facility was also hit on March 16, 2024, igniting a fire at a petroleum processing unit.

The Syzran oil refinery produces gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel, and bitumen, making it a vital asset for Russia’s military supply chain.

At the same time, BAZA reported that several other drones targeted the Novokuybyshevsk oil refinery in Samara region, sparking a fire that was extinguished within half an hour.
