According to Suspilne, drones carried out an attack on the Novovelichkovskaya oil pumping station in Russia’s Krasnodar region on February 20. The station, which plays a key role in transporting oil in the region, suspended operations following the strike.

The attack reportedly targeted a 110/35/10 kV substation supplying power to the facility, leading to a fire, a complete blackout, and an emergency shutdown of oil transportation. Russian authorities are currently assessing the damage.

Novovelichkovskaya oil pumping station is a critical part of the oil supply network in southern Russia, ensuring delivery to Afipsky and Ilsky oil refineries. The latest strike is part of a series of drone operations targeting Russia’s oil infrastructure.

According to available data, drone attacks and international sanctions in 2024 have led to the shutdown of refining capacities totaling 41.1 million tons, or over 12% of Russia’s total capacity. This has contributed to a decline in fuel production, with refinery output dropping to its lowest level in 12 years.

Earlier, a drone strike targeted the Syzran Oil Refinery in Russia’s Samara region, causing a fire and leading to a temporary suspension of operations. The refinery, owned by Rosneft, processes 8.9 million tons of crude oil annually and plays a key role in fuel production for Russia’s military. Russian officials confirmed the attack, but no reports of intercepted drones were issued.
