Drone Strike Forces Shutdown of Russia's Largest Oil Pumping Station in Kuban

Following a drone strike, Russia's largest oil pumping station—part of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) used by Kazakhstan to export oil to Europe and the US—has been taken out of operation.
The “Kropotkinska” oil pumping station in the Caucasian district of Kuban was hit by 7 drones armed with explosives and metal-impact elements, according to the consortium on Monday, February 17.
The company noted that oil transportation via the Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline system is now proceeding at reduced pumping rates, bypassing the affected station. No injuries among the station's personnel have been reported. A management team, led by the CEO, has been dispatched to assess the damage and determine the restoration timeline.

Earlier on the same day, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported a large-scale attack by Ukrainian forces. According to its Telegram account, 90 drones were destroyed last night—38 over the Sea of Azov, 24 over Krasnodar region, 15 over annexed Crimea, 7 over the Black Sea, 2 over Kursk, and 2 over Rostov. In addition, a guided Neptune-MD missile was also reportedly intercepted over the Sea of Azov.
Previously on February 15, a series of drone attacks targeted multiple regions in Russia, including Volgograd, Kaluga, Saratov, and Tula, according to Andrii Kovalenko, Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation. Among the affected sites was the Volgograd oil refinery, one of the largest in Russia.
