Jordan McLachlan, a 26-year-old from Ardnamurchan, Scotland, was killed in action on January 5, 2025, while serving on the frontline in Ukraine. The news was confirmed by BBC, citing a statement from his family.

McLachlan joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2022 as a medic, following the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion. He was actively involved in providing frontline assistance when he was killed. According to his family, Jordan was deeply committed to helping others and believed in the importance of his mission.

His relatives are awaiting further details from the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office. A spokesperson for the UK Foreign Office confirmed ongoing support for McLachlan’s family and coordination with local authorities in Ukraine.

McLachlan is one of several Scottish volunteers who joined Ukraine’s defense efforts. Among them is Adam Ennis from Biggar, who left his garage business to join the International Legion, and Jonathan Shenkin from Glasgow, who was killed in Ukraine in December 2022.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, thousands of foreign volunteers from over 50 countries have joined Ukraine’s Armed Forces. Many serve in the International Legion, with significant numbers coming from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Poland, and Georgia. These volunteers include military veterans, medics, and humanitarian workers, united by their commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defense.
