The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has successfully targeted important components of Russia’s air defense systems at the Belbek military airfield in occupied Crimea. Using long-range drones from the Alpha Special Operations Center, the Ukrainian forces struck several high-value assets, resulting in significant damage, SBU wrote in Telegam on December 18

The successful strikes included two “Nebo-SVU” long-range radar detection systems, each valued between $60-$100 million, a 92N6 radar system, part of Russia’s S-400 Triumph missile defense system, worth approximately $30 million domestically, or $60 million on the export market.

SBU also targeted a Pantsir-S2 air defense system, valued at $12-$19 million depending on the market and a MiG-31 fighter jet, with a price range of $30-$50 million, depending on its configuration and armament.

The SBU’s reported that the operations have significantly weakened the Russian defense capabilities in Crimea, targeting crucial elements of their layered air defense system. This move is part of Ukraine’s ongoing strikes to dismantle Russian military infrastructure, further weakening the Russian defenses and military capabilities in the Crimean direction.

Previously, it was reported that operators from Ukraine’s 412th Nemesis Brigade of the Unmanned Systems Forces have carried out a successful strike against Russian air defense assets, destroying three surface-to-air missile systems in a single operation.

According to the unit, the strike was executed by fighters from the Asgard battalion and resulted in the confirmed destruction of two Tor-M1 short-range air defense systems and one Buk-M3 medium-range surface-to-air missile system.
