Six Ukrainian POWs Executed by Russian Forces in Pokrovsk Direction, Prosecutor’s Office Reports
The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has initiated an investigation following reports that Russian forces captured and executed six Ukrainian soldiers over a period in late October.
According to operational data, on October 23, 2024, at approximately 17:17, Russian military personnel advanced on Ukrainian positions near the city of Selydove. During the offensive, they reportedly captured three Ukrainian service members and subsequently executed them while they were unarmed and in captivity.
On November 1, 2024, at around 14:00, Russian forces reportedly conducted another assault on Ukrainian defensive positions in the same Pokrovsk direction. During this operation, three additional Ukrainian soldiers were taken prisoner and later killed by automatic gunfire.
The Prosecutor’s Office emphasized that the killing of prisoners of war constitutes a grave violation of the Geneva Conventions and qualifies as a serious international crime. Investigations have been launched under Article 438, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, addressing war crimes resulting in fatalities.
