Slovak President Suggests Ukraine Will Need to Sacrifice Territory to Achieve Peace
Slovak President Peter Pellegrini believes that Russia and Ukraine need to engage in negotiations, with Kyiv potentially making territorial concessions to achieve peace, Turaz news agency reported, citing Pellegrini in an STVR program.
Pellegrini stated that Ukraine and Russia need to "come to the negotiating table" and that the situation should be viewed "realistically."
“However, it must be said in a completely realistic way, and no one in Europe with normal thinking today thinks that peace can be established without territorial losses for Ukraine,” commented Pellegrini.
At the end of Summer, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Russia’s war on Ukraine can only end with the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and the prevention of future Russian aggression.
“The war can only end with the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity and the prevention of further aggression from Putin and Russia,“ Zelenskyy said in a press conference in Kyiv on August 24.
Additionally, in a December 11 interview with CBN News, Zelenskyy emphasized that Kyiv would only consider NATO invitations that include Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders. However, he admitted that the Alliance’s actions would remain limited to territories currently under Ukraine’s control until the war concludes.
