Slovenia delivered two haulers to Ukrainian rescue teams, specifically for transporting mechanized demining machinery, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) statement on October 24.

The vehicles, purchased through the United24 fundraising platform for Ukraine, will be used to transport demining equipment on low-bed trailers and facilitate various engineering operations, including clearing debris.

During the official handover, Andriy Danik, Head of the Ukrainian SES, expressed gratitude toward Slovenia and its citizens for their ongoing support, noting how crucial this aid is to enhancing Ukraine’s demining capabilities.

“These 2 haulers will enable two additional demining machines to begin clearing explosive remnants on our land, ensuring we can make significant progress before the first ground frost,” he said.

Slovenian Ambassador to Ukraine Mateja Prevolšek said that Slovenia’s understands the importance of Ukraine’s demining operations, recognizing the challenging and essential work done by Ukrainian sappers in areas affected by war.

Slovenia’s recent aid follows a government decision to allocate an additional €5 million for humanitarian aid to Ukraine, showing its commitment to long-term support.

Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar previously stated, “Slovenia is a small country and cannot offer the same level of military support as larger nations, but we have and will continue to provide significant aid.”

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Slovenia Robert Golob have signed an Agreement on Cooperation in the Sphere of Security and Long-Term Support between Ukraine and the Republic of Slovenia.

Slovenia has already sent 13 packages of military assistance to Ukraine and plans to uphold this level of support over the next decade.
