South Korea To Supply Ukraine With 155-mm Artillery Shells and Air Defense Systems

South Korea is planning to provide air defense systems and 155-mm artillery shells to Ukraine amid ongoing geopolitical tensions involving Russia and North Korea.

According to reports from Yonhap News Agency citing government sources, South Korea is considering including air defense systems and 155-mm artillery shells in the list of weaponry it may transfer to Ukraine. This decision is driven by Ukraine’s urgent need for missile defense systems to counter potential aerial threats from Russia.

The specifics of South Korea’s military assistance, including the types and volumes of weapons, will be determined based on Russia’s future actions regarding its cooperation with North Korea. Additionally, South Korea is set to impose additional sanctions targeting four Russian vessels, five organizations, and eight individuals involved in arms and oil shipments between Russia and North Korea.

Earlier, on June 19, Vladimir Putin announced that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation had signed an agreement for a “comprehensive strategic partnership,” which included provisions for mutual assistance in the event of aggression against either party.
