British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, speaking at a press conference following the "Securing Our Future" Summit in London on March 2, announced the creation of a "coalition of the willing" to support a coordinated peace plan for Ukraine.

Starmer emphasized the need for a group of nations prepared to take active steps to enforce a potential peace agreement. "Not every nation will feel able to contribute," he stated, but stressed that those willing must "intensify planning now, with real urgency." The UK, he said, is ready to play a leading role in this effort, committing both military and logistical support.

He underscored that European nations would need to take on significant responsibility but that success would depend on strong backing from the United States. Following discussions with Trump last week, Starmer said both leaders agreed on the need for a "durable peace" and that the next step would be advancing the coalition’s efforts to implement a shared plan.

"We are at a crossroads in history today. This is not a moment for more talk. It's time to act. Time to step up and lead. And to unite around a new plan for a just and enduring peace. Thank you," Starmer concluded.

Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, speaking after the Securing Our Future Summit in London on March 2, emphasized the need for robust security guarantees for Ukraine.
