US President Donald Trump did not “appreciate” the Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s proposal to establish a United Nations-led interim administration in Ukraine, according to a statement delivered by State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce during a press briefing on March 31.

The US State Department emphasized that Ukraine functions as a constitutional democracy, with governance determined by its Constitution and citizens.

Bruce reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to diplomacy, describing it as essential for achieving a complete ceasefire and establishing lasting peace.

President Trump has made it clear that Russia and Ukraine need to move to a full ceasefire. None of that has changed,” she stated.

She further noted that negotiations would require both Russia and Ukraine to make “tough decisions and compromises.”

On March 30, reports revealed that Trump expressed frustration and anger over Putin’s recent remarks questioning the credibility of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s leadership. Trump said he was “very angry” and “pissed off,” stating that Putin’s comments were “not going in the right location.”
