Trump Unhappy With Remarks From Both Zelenskyy and Putin, White House Says

US President Donald Trump has expressed dissatisfaction with recent remarks made by both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian leader Vladimir Putin regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine.
During a press briefing on March 31, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Trump is putting significant effort into brokering a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia. However, the president is reportedly unhappy with the tone and content of statements from both Kyiv and Moscow.
“He has expressed his displeasure with comments that have been made by leaders of both sides of this conflict,” Leavitt told reporters. “He has expressed what he believes needs to take place in order to see this conflict come to an end.”
Leavitt did not specify which statements by Zelenskyy or Putin had upset Trump. She stressed that the president remains committed to working intensively towards a resolution, adding that the teams are continuing their efforts.
Trump's frustration became public after he voiced anger during an interview, stating he was “very angry” with Putin over claims questioning Zelenskyy's legitimacy and obstructing a ceasefire.
Putin recently repeated assertions that Zelenskyy is not a legitimate president and proposed the formation of a transitional government under UN supervision — a move sharply rejected by Ukraine and criticized by Western governments. These comments reportedly angered Trump, who is keen on reaching a ceasefire agreement.
Additionally, Trump warned that he might impose tariffs ranging from 25% to 50% on Russian oil if no progress is made toward a ceasefire within the next month. He emphasized that such measures would be enacted swiftly should the talks remain stalled.
