Trump Reportedly to Visit Saudi Arabia in May for First Foreign Trip of Second Term

US President Donald Trump is reportedly scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia in mid-May, marking his first foreign trip of his second term, Axios reported March 30, citing two US officials and a source familiar with the president’s travel plans.
In March, several rounds of talks between the US, Ukraine, and Russia took place in Saudi Arabia, as Trump seeks a ceasefire in Moscow’s ongoing war.
“An opportunity for international travel for the President is something that is being looked at. We don’t yet have a specific plan, and we will provide that information when it is official,” a White House official said.
“Talks will focus on discussing foreign investments, strengthening relationships with Gulf nations and ending conflict in the Middle East.”
During a March 6 press briefing in the Oval Office, Trump confirmed that he is likely to visit Saudi Arabia within the next month and a half.
“I am going to Saudi Arabia. Normally, you would go to the UK first. Last time I went to Saudi Arabia, they put up $450 billion,” Trump said, referencing a significant economic agreement made during his previous visit.
