Trump Urges Turkey to Curb Russian Oil Imports, Cites Moscow’s Losses

US President Donald Trump held a briefing with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, with the war in Ukraine high on the agenda.
This was reported by Fox News on September 25.
Trump urged Ankara to stop purchasing Russian oil, stressing the importance of reducing Moscow’s economic lifelines. He also pointed out that Russia is suffering massive losses while achieving little territorial gain.
“I’m not gonna ever call anybody a ‘paper tiger,’ but Russia has spent millions and millions of dollars on bombs, missiles, ammunition, and lives. Their lives. And they have gained virtually no land. I think it`s time to stop. I really do” Trump said.

Following his meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on September 23, Trump also commented on Russia’s war against Ukraine on Truth Social. He said that with European and NATO backing, Ukraine is capable of fully restoring its territory.
“With time, patience, and the financial support of Europe and, in particular, NATO, the original Borders from where this War started, is very much an option. Why not?” Trump wrote.
Trump wrote that Russia has been waging a war aimlessly for three and a half years—a war that, in his view, a real military power should have been able to win in less than a week. He added that this does not distinguish Russia but instead makes it look like “a paper tiger.”
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy raised the issue of ongoing cyberattacks and other tactics employed by Russian and Belarusian forces during his bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump on September 23.
