A UK source has confirmed to the BBC that Challenger 2 tanks are being used in Ukraine’s recent incursion into the Kursk region, Russia.

The media reports that while the Ministry of Defence has declined to comment on specific UK-supplied weapons in use, a spokesperson emphasized that Ukraine has the right to self-defense under the UN Charter against Russia's illegal attacks. This right extends to operations within Russian territory, including the use of main battle tanks, which the UK source indicated are currently being employed in the Ukrainian offensive.

The only exception is the use of long-range Storm Shadow missiles. These were supplied with the condition that they were not to be used against targets within Russia.

The BBC reports that British officials are considering whether to alter these restrictions after President Zelenskyy's repeated requests to lift the limitations on long-range weapon use.
