Representatives of Ukraine and the Republic of Korea have signed a protocol to launch joint efforts aimed at restoring Ukraine’s port infrastructure.

The agreement was announced by Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority on August 19.

According to the statement, the protocol was formalized during a working meeting held within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between Ukraine’s Ministry for Communities and Territories Development and the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.

Discussions centered on strategic directions for the sustainable development of Ukrainian ports. The Korean side received a detailed report on the development of the Master Plan and feasibility studies for the reconstruction of Ukraine’s port facilities.

The dialogue highlighted three priority areas: the restoration of port infrastructure, the modernization of Ukraine’s specialized fleet, and the introduction of modern electronic management systems.

“As a result of the meeting, the parties signed a protocol and agreed to work jointly on projects, seek financing, and define practical steps,” the statement reads.

It is emphasized that implementing the plan will support Ukraine’s maritime sector, facilitate its integration into European transport chains, and strengthen the country’s role as a key transport hub in the Black Sea region.

Earlier, it was reported that South Korea is set to impose sanctions on individuals and companies linked to “illegal military cooperation between Russia and North Korea.”
