Ukraine and US Begin Riyadh Talks to Discuss Ceasefire Proposals

The Ukrainian delegation began its meeting with the US team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where parties will discuss the potential ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, citing Rustem Umerov, Defense Minister of Ukraine, on March 23.

“We are carrying out President Zelenskyy’s directive to bring Ukraine closer to a just peace and ensure our country’s security. On the table are proposals for strengthening the protection of Ukraine’s energy facilities and critical infrastructure,” Umerov stated.

The Defense Minister pointed out that the Ukrainian delegation includes energy and military experts.

“Today, we are working through a range of complex technical issues. Our delegation includes top energy experts, along with military representatives specializing in naval and air defense.”

The main focus of the meeting is expected to be to work out the details of the agreements, particularly concerning the proposed 30-day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.

It was previously reported that talks between Russia and the United States were scheduled to take place in Riyadh on March 24.
