New satellite images confirm a Ukrainian strike that destroyed a Russian Shahed drone depot at the temporarily occupied Donetsk airport. The warhead storage was obliterated, and nearby launch positions and infrastructure were damaged, according to images shared by OSINT analysts on November 9.

The Special Operations Forces said more than 90% of the drones launched in the operation reached their targets, and described “a powerful explosion and subsequent detonation” captured on video by residents, adding: “This was a joint operation involving the Special Operations Forces, the Forces of Unmanned Systems, and Rocket Forces and Artillery.”

The strike followed months of Russian work to repurpose the airport for Shahed logistics, as indicated by earlier satellite imagery, and video posted online after the attack showed large secondary blasts consistent with the destruction of stored munitions; independent damage assessments were not immediately available.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian forces destroyed a Shahed drone storage, assembly, and launch site at Donetsk airport, built up by Russian occupation forces in the temporarily occupied territory.
