The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has condemned remarks made by Romanian politician Călin Georgescu, on January 30, stating that his comments undermine Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

Heorhii Tykhyi, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, reaffirmed that any statements or actions challenging Ukraine’s sovereignty contradict international law, the UN Charter, and democratic principles.

"His attempts to position himself as an 'independent' politician look absurd, the rhetoric he voiced is identical to Russian propaganda, indicating complete dependence on his masters in Moscow," said the Foreign Ministry.

The Ministry emphasized that Romania’s long-term interests align with regional stability and the peaceful development of both nations.

It also acknowledged Romania’s continued support for Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion and expressed hope for further strengthening bilateral relations as strategic partners.

Romania’s Foreign Ministry has reaffirmed its support for Ukraine’s sovereignty following statements by far-right pro-Russian politician Călin Georgescu.

In a post on X, the ministry reiterated its commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence within its internationally recognized borders. It emphasized that this stance is based on international law, national interests, and a long-term, values-based foreign policy.

Earlier today, Romanian presidential candidate Călin Georgescu, known for his pro-Russian stance, described Ukraine as a "fictional state" and claimed its division among neighboring countries was inevitable.
