Ukraine Defeats Slovakia in the Second Round of Euro 2024

Ukraine secured a decisive 2-1 victory over Slovakia in the second round of Euro 2024.

The match’s first significant moment came in the 10th minute when Lukas Haraslin’s shot was parried by Anatolii Trubin. Slovakia started aggressively, forcing Ukraine to defend more initially. Volodymyr Brazhko’s long-range shot was easily caught by Martin Dubravka. The first clear chance for Ukraine came in the 27th minute with Artem Dovbyk’s blocked shot, followed by Oleksandr Tymchyk hitting the post.

After halftime, Ukraine, under coach Serhiy Rebrov, seized control. In the 54th minute, Mykola Shaparenko scored from an Oleksandr Zinchenko pass, and in the 80th minute, Shaparenko set up Roman Yaremchuk for the winning goal.

Goals: 1-0 — Shranz 17', 1-1 — Shaparenko 54', 1-2 — Yaremchuk 80'.

In the upcoming round, Ukraine will face Belgium, while Slovakia meets Romania on June 26th.
