Ukraine Destroys Russian Elite Bastion Missile Units in Massive Crimea Strike

Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck a Russian coastal missile unit in temporarily occupied Crimea along with ammunition depots, logistics facilities, and a drone command post in other occupied areas on February 23, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff in a statement published on Telegram on February 23, Ukrainian forces targeted “the area of concentration of a missile battalion of the 15th Separate Coastal Missile Brigade of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation (armed with the Bastion coastal missile system)” in temporarily occupied Crimea.

The General Staff stated that hits on the designated targets were recorded and that Russian losses are being clarified.
In addition, the General Staff reported that an ammunition depot belonging to Russia’s “Yug” (South) grouping of forces was struck near the settlement of Nyzhnia Krynka in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region. Another strike hit a logistics warehouse in the area of Velyka Novosilka in the same region.

Separately, in the area of Pokrovka in the temporarily occupied part of Mykolaiv region, Ukrainian forces targeted a drone command and control point operated by a Russian airborne assault regiment, according to the General Staff’s statement.
“Enemy losses and the final scale of the damage are being clarified. Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue to systematically destroy the military infrastructure of the occupying forces, depriving them of the ability to conduct offensive operations,” the General Staff stated.
The 15th Separate Coastal Missile Brigade of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet operates the Bastion coastal defense system, which is designed to launch anti-ship missiles from land-based platforms.

Earlier on February 21, Ukrainian drone units destroyed a Russian Tornado-S—the Kremlin’s precision-guided equivalent to the HIMARS—while it was actively firing toward Zaporizhzhia.
According to Commander Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, a strike drone hit the launcher mid-salvo, triggering a massive detonation of its satellite-guided rockets. This marks a rare and significant blow, as it is only the fourth confirmed destruction of such a system since the start of the invasion.
