Ukraine Detects Suspected Hungarian Recon Drones Violating Its Airspace

Ukrainian forces have recorded violations of the country’s airspace by reconnaissance drones that may have been Hungarian, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on September 26.
In a post on Telegram, Zelenskyy reported that he held a military meeting with Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov, Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal, and Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Pavlo Palisa. Syrskyi briefed the meeting on recent drone incidents along the Ukrainian-Hungarian border.
“Ukrainian forces detected incursions into our airspace by reconnaissance drones, which are likely Hungarian. Preliminary assessments suggest they may have been gathering intelligence on the industrial capacity of Ukrainian border regions,” Zelenskyy said.
The president ordered a thorough review of all available data and immediate reporting on each incident. The meeting also included updates on the battlefield situation across key fronts.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha confirmed that Ukraine banned entry to three senior Hungarian military officials in response to Budapest’s actions.
On August 28, Hungary barred entry to Ukraine’s Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi, citing Ukraine’s alleged role in a recent attack on Russia’s Druzhba oil pipeline.
In May, Ukraine’s Security Service said it had uncovered, for the first time, an intelligence network operated by Hungary’s military intelligence service in Zakarpattia region.
