Ukraine Eliminates Son of Russian General Tied to Kherson War Crimes

A Russian officer identified as Lieutenant Vasily Marzoyev, the son of Russian General-Lieutenant Arkady Marzoyev, was killed in the Zaporizhzhia region, according to the Kremlin-appointed head of North Ossetia, Sergey Menyaylo, who confirmed the death on October 19.
In a statement published on his official Telegram channel, Menyaylo said that Vasily Marzoyev served as the commander of a reconnaissance platoon in the 108th Airborne Regiment of Russia’s 7th Air Assault Division.
The official noted that he “died while carrying out a combat mission” in southern Ukraine.
Russian media and Telegram channels reported that the younger Marzoyev participated in combat operations in Ukraine for an extended period before his death. His unit came under precise fire on the Zaporizhzhia front, resulting in his elimination.

According to Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), Arkady Marzoyev, commander of Russia’s 18th Combined Arms Army, faces two in absentia indictments.
The first relates to his role in the invasion and occupation of the Kherson region in early 2022. The second concerns the shelling of civilian areas in Kherson on May 3, 2023, which killed 24 people and injured 15.
Earlier, Ukrainian forces eliminated Russian machine gunner Tasbolat Ibrashev near Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region. Ibrashev, once portrayed by Russian media as a “hero” of the 2008 Russo-Georgian war, rejoined the Russian army in 2023 after years of civilian life in Astrakhan. His death was confirmed by Russian sources.
