On the morning of July 4, Ukrainian strike drones targeted a facility in the city of Azov, Rostov region. According to the Russian outlet Astra, the likely target of the attack was the Azov Optical-Mechanical Plant, a manufacturing site involved in the production of optical and electronic components for military use.

Videos circulating on social media show fixed-wing drones flying in and diving toward the enterprise, followed by explosions and smoke. One of the drones had a delta-wing design resembling that of a Shahed-type drone.

Astra reports that local authorities claimed the drone attack was allegedly repelled by air defense systems. However, eyewitnesses say windows and doors in nearby residential buildings were blown out, and cars parked nearby were damaged.

Emergency services are currently working at the scene, and residents are being evacuated.

According to Astra, citing Russia’s Ministry of Defense, on the night of July 4, air defense forces allegedly shot down 26 drones over the Rostov region.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Southern Defense Forces carried out a coordinated precision strike that successfully destroyed three Russian 55Zh6M Nebo-M radar systems.

The operation featured an integrated use of unmanned assets, combining maritime drones with fixed-wing UAVs known as “Lazar” in a deep-strike configuration.

Footage released by Ukrainian forces captures a maritime drone maneuvering into position and launching a large aerial drone directly from its platform—demonstrating a multi-domain approach to remote strike capabilities.
