Ukraine Necessitates Emergency Energy Aid From Allies Amidst Power Deficit
In the face of a critical shortage in its energy system caused by Russian strikes, Ukraine requires help from neighboring countries for emergency assistance, reports Ukrenergo.
On April 18, Ukrenergo disclosed that Ukraine is receiving urgent aid from Romania, Poland, and Slovakia to address the energy deficit. Despite these efforts, the assistance provided may fall short, necessitating the implementation of power restriction schedules for Ukrainian industries, as Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reports.
The energy shortfall stems from significant damages inflicted by Russian missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian power infrastructure. The morning of April 18 witnessed ballistic missile attacks on infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk, while ongoing emergency restoration efforts are underway at thermal power plants following a widespread missile assault on April 11.
The consequences of these attacks left 407 settlements in Kyiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kirovohrad, Chernihiv, and Kharkiv Regions without electricity.
As Ukraine grapples with this energy crisis, the cooperation and support from neighboring nations become indispensable for maintaining essential services and infrastructure stability.
