Ukraine Open to Peace Initiatives From China, Brazil and Other Countries, Says President’s Office
Ukraine may consider alternative "peace initiatives" of other states, in particular China and Brazil, in order to integrate them into the "Peace Formula" of Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
This was stated by the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andrii Yermak, in an interview with the Italian publication Corriere della Sera, published on October 27.
According to Yermak, at the beginning of November, Ukraine will finish working on the "Peace Formula", after which other alternative peace initiatives may also be considered.
"At the beginning of November, we will finish work on our 'Peace Formula,' and Zelenskyy said that then he will be ready to listen to other initiatives, such as those of China, Brazil, South Africa, and other countries, to integrate them into ours. Then our proposal will have significant support," he said.
On May 23, the governments of Brazil and China issued a joint statement on the resolution of Russia’s war in Ukraine, advocating political negotiations to achieve peace and calling for a conference to do so.
On October 16, Zelenskyy presented his Victory Plan to the Ukrainian Parliament, following discussions with US President Joe Biden and Western leaders in London, Paris, Rome, and Berlin. The focus of the plan is to ensure Ukraine has a strong negotiating position for potential peace talks with Russia.
"If the plan is supported, we can end the war no later than next year," Zelenskyy said. "If we and our partners don't strengthen now, Putin will significantly strengthen next year.”
The press secretary of Russia’s Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, despite not seeing the “Victory Plan” presentation of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, called it an "American plan".
"For so many weeks now, there has been talk about some ephemeral peace plan. Most likely, this is the same American plan to fight us to the last Ukrainian, which Zelenskyy has now camouflaged," Peskov said, adding that ending the war is supposedly only possible if the Kyiv regime “realizes the futility of its policy.”
