Ukraine Releases Footage of African Mercenary Left for Dead by Russian Troops

A wounded African mercenary was reportedly tied up and left to die by Russian forces in Russia’s Kursk region, according to footage released by Ukraine’s 129th Territorial Defense Brigade.

The video, captured by the Ukrainian Drone Strike Unit “Rugby Team”, shows the injured fighter with bound hands in a small settlement near the front lines. OSINT analyst @blinzka via X confirmed that the location is Plekhovo village in Sudzha district, Kursk region.

The footage shows the man initially hiding inside a damaged building before attempting to move through a snowy field using a makeshift crutch. Eventually, he collapses and remains motionless.

According to the 129th Brigade, the incident underscores Russia’s disregard for its foreign mercenaries, leaving them behind without medical aid or evacuation.

Previously, Ukraine’s military intelligence agency reported that Russia is recruiting men from Syria and using them as cannon fodder in battles in eastern Ukraine.
