Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence has exposed a Russian military officer involved in the deadly missile strike on Kyiv’s Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital.

On July 8, the anniversary of the attack, intelligence officials identified Major Denis Sheynov — chief of the special engineering service of Russia’s 121st Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment, part of the 22nd Heavy Bomber Division — as one of the individuals responsible for the strike on Ukraine’s largest children’s medical center, where 627 pediatric patients were undergoing treatment at the time.

According to the investigation, Sheynov was directly responsible for the technical preparation of Kh-101 air-launched cruise missiles used in the July 8 strike. The missiles were deployed by Russia’s strategic aviation forces to carry out a coordinated attack on civilian infrastructure.

Throughout his military career, Sheynov received multiple medals from the Russian Ministry of Defense, including the Medal “For Military Valor” (2nd class) in 2000, the Medal “For Distinction in Military Service” (1st class) in 2015, and the Medal “Participant in the Military Operation in Syria” in 2019.

Though not officially named, sources suggest the suspect is likely Sergey Kobylash. He is accused of ordering a Kh-101 missile strike that hit a residential building in the Lvivskyi Kvartal area, killing one man, injuring three people including a 7-year-old girl, and causing major damage.
