Ukraine Showcases Its Newest 'Hetman Ivan Mazepa' Corvette Ship with Cutting-Edge Armaments

The Ukrainian showed the sea trials of the “Hetman Ivan Mazepa” multi-purpose corvette-class ship of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is being built in Turkey.

According to preliminary data, the corvette will be armed with American Harpoon anti-ship missiles, MBDA VL MICA short-range anti-aircraft missile system, Leonardo Super Rapid 76-mm artillery installation, Millennium 35-mm anti-aircraft system, 12.7 mm Aselsan STAMP machine gun installations and 324 mm torpedo tubes with MU90 Impact anti-submarine torpedoes. Also, the corvette will be able to take on board one helicopter.

The Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vice Admiral Oleksii Neizhpapa, previously stated that the corvette would enter the Ukrainian Navy in 2024.

In March of 2024, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during his visit to Turkey, visited the shipyard in Istanbul, where corvettes are being built the Ukrainian Navy.
