The Ukrainian national Paralympic wheelchair fencing team has secured third place globally following a formidable performance at the Wheelchair Fencing World Cup, as reported by National Sports Committee for the Disabled of Ukraine on February 26.

As Ukraine's winter Paralympic squad prepares for the upcoming 2026 Milano Cortina Games, the national wheelchair fencing delegation is simultaneously delivering commanding victories on the international stage.

Held in Pisa from February 17 to 23, 2026, the World Cup featured competitors from 27 nations. The 13-athlete Ukrainian delegation claimed a total of seven medals, comprising two gold, one silver, and four bronze.

Gold medals were captured by Andrii Demchuk in the Category A men’s individual sabre, alongside a first-place finish for the women's team in the épée event. The gold-winning women's squad featured Yevheniia Breus (Category A), Mariia Ivanchyk (Category A), Olena Fedota-Isaieva (Category B), and Tetiana Pozniak (Category B).

The men's foil team secured a silver medal, with a roster including Andrii Demchuk (Category A), Oleksii Zakusylov (Category A), Oleh Naumenko (Category B), and Dmytro Serozhenko (Category B).

Furthermore, bronze medals were awarded to Nataliia Morkvych in both the Category A women’s foil and sabre events, Olena Fedota-Isaieva in the Category B women’s sabre, and Oleh Naumenko in the Category B men’s épée.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine is set to send its largest-ever delegation to the upcoming 2026 Paralympic Winter Games in Milan-Cortina. The record-breaking national team will consist of 35 members, including 25 competing Paralympians alongside 10 guide athletes.

The Ukrainian squad will contest medals across four disciplines: para biathlon, para cross-country skiing, para alpine skiing, and para snowboarding. Notably, this marks the country's return to Paralympic alpine skiing for the first time since 2014, and its first appearance in snowboarding since 2018.
