Ukraine Urges Full Sanctions Synchronization to Undermine Russia’s War Economy, Says FM Sybiha

In the coming weeks, international partners are expected to fully synchronize their sanctions against Russia to enhance the overall effectiveness of economic pressure measures.
This was announced by the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha via X on July 29.
Sybiha underlined the importance of unified action among Ukraine’s partners. “President Trump's stance toward Moscow is realistic and firm in light of Putin's rejection of peace efforts. We appreciate his clarity and strength,” Sybiha said.
He noted that Russian leader Vladimir Putin continues to reject a ceasefire, avoids high-level diplomatic engagement, and deliberately prolongs the war.
According to Sybiha, the Kremlin’s military campaign can only be curbed by undermining the Russian economy and restricting access to financial resources.
“The maximum synchronization of sanctions is critical. Right now, we can see momentum. The time has come to consolidate a single and strong sanctions fist and hit Russia's war budget with full force,” the minister stated.

He also referred to recent claims by Russian officials, who have portrayed themselves as fighting the entire West single-handedly. Sybiha noted that this narrative is intended to rationalize the Kremlin’s lack of success in achieving strategic objectives more than three years into its full-scale war against Ukraine.
“But if they see themselves as lone heroes confronting the entire West, let them feel the entire West's consolidated strength through maximum sanctions pressure,” he added.
Sybiha confirmed that Ukraine is continuing to coordinate its national sanctions policy with that of international partners. Recent weeks have seen Kyiv move swiftly to align with the European Union’s latest sanctions packages.
He also stressed that Ukraine, together with its allies, is actively working to eliminate loopholes and restrict Russia’s access to critical technologies.
Earlier, during a press spray alongside UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, US President Donald Trump was questioned about his earlier comments on Russia and the timeframe for achieving a peace deal in Ukraine. As reported by The Guardian, Trump stated he would now shorten the timeline to “10 or 12” days, indicating heightened pressure on Moscow.
