Ukraine Urges Its Citizens to Leave Syria Amid Security Concerns
Ukraine's Embassy in Lebanon is urging Ukrainian citizens to leave Syria and refrain from traveling to the country until the security situation stabilizes.
The Ukrainian MFA released the statement on its website.
“Due to the deteriorating security situation in Syria, the Embassy of Ukraine in Lebanon strongly advises Ukrainian citizens to refrain from any travel to Syria until the security situation stabilizes. Those currently in the country are urged to leave its territory,“ the statement reads.
For those who choose to remain in Syria, the Embassy advises avoiding crowded places, refraining from participating in rallies or demonstrations, adhering to safety measures and regulations, staying at your place of residence, always carrying identification documents, and considering shortening your stay in the country.
On November 30, the war in Syria intensified as opposition forces launched a major offensive in Aleppo, marking the most significant escalation in the region in recent years. In just over a week the opposition managed to take full control of Syria’s second-largest city, Aleppo and the city of Hama.
