Ukraine’s Boxing Team Claims European Victory, Donates Prize to Defense Forces

The national men's and women's boxing team of Ukraine won the first overall team place at the European U22 Boxing Championships.

This was reported by The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian team decided to donate their prize money in the amount of $42,000 to the needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, in particular the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The Ministry stated that In light of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as of October 21, 2024, Russian forces have already killed 545 Ukrainian athletes and coaches and destroyed 523 sports facilities. 

“The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine is deeply grateful to Ukrainian boxers for their courage, patriotism and significant contribution to the approach of victory. Their act is a vivid example of how sports can become a powerful force in the struggle for freedom and independence,” the Ministry wrote.
