Denys Yashchuk, a former boxer of Ukraine’s national team, was killed while defending his country.
This was reported by the press center of Ukraine’s National Olympic Committee.
"The sad news has shaken the Olympic family. The former boxer of the Ukrainian national team, Denys Yashchuk, died in the war with the Russian invaders. Denys Yashchuk played in the semi-professional boxing team "Ukrainian Atamans" and had the title of Master of Sports of International Class," the message reads.
In May of 2024, the Head of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Matviy Bidnyi stated that Russia has killed over 450 Ukrainian athletes since the start of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
