Ukraine’s New Lima Electronic Warfare System Reportedly Outsmarts Russian and Western Alternatives

Ukraine’s domestically developed Lima electronic warfare (EW) system has proven more effective than both Russian and Western alternatives at disrupting the guided aerial bombs Russia uses in its attacks, according to a report by The Telegraph published on June 15.
British analysts note that despite reduced US military aid and slow responses from some European partners, Ukraine continues to deploy its existing equipment efficiently. Meanwhile, domestic arms production now covers up to half of the Ukrainian military’s needs.
According to the report, Ukraine has already surpassed EU countries in producing certain types of weaponry. For example, Ukrainian manufacturers produce about 20 Bohdana self-propelled howitzers per month, outpacing France’s Caesar howitzer production. With additional EU funding, this output could potentially double.

Drone production is also scaling rapidly. In 2025, Ukraine aims to produce five million small FPV drones, 30,000 long-range drones, and 3,000 cruise missiles, the article read.
Some of this new Ukrainian hardware is reportedly more effective than foreign models because it is tailored to battlefield realities. The Lima EW system, in particular, has demonstrated superior performance in jamming Russian guided bombs compared to Russian and Western systems.
Ukraine’s Lima EW system is a domestically-developed, frontline solution specifically designed to jam the satellite navigation links used by Russian glide bombs.
On June 17, it was reported that Turkish defense manufacturer Baykar will start production of its advanced Kizilelma combat UAV at its facility in Ukraine as early as this year.
