Discussions on Ukraine’s presence in Russia’s Kursk region were part of broader negotiations, but there was no US request for Ukrainian forces to withdraw ahead of a ceasefire, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi stated during a briefing on March 13.

“I can confirm that Ukraine’s presence in the Kursk region was mentioned as part of broader discussions. However, it is not true to say that there were any demands for Ukraine to withdraw before the ceasefire. Nothing of this sort was discussed. But yes, they did acknowledge that Ukraine has a presence in the Kursk region as a result of its military operations,” Tykhyi said.

Previously, it was reported that the issue of territory was discussed during the Ukraine-US meeting in Jeddah, but using the term “territorial concessions” it’s not the right one to use, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated during a briefing on March 13.
