Ukrainian Air Assault units have uncovered and eliminated a group of Russian troops who were hiding in an improvised shelter on the grounds of a farm near the frontline city of Myrnohrad, according to a statement released by Ukraine’s 7th Air Assault Corps on January 9.
“Over the past six months, the capture of Myrnohrad has remained one of the enemy’s key objectives on the Pokrovsk axis. After concentrating more than 10 units around the city, Russian forces continue to build up strength on its southern and northeastern outskirts,” the statement said.

To remain undetected, several Russian groups reportedly made repeated use of the site’s engineering infrastructure, including fecal pits, as concealment.
Once the hiding place was identified, units of the 79th Air Assault Brigade of the 7th Air Assault Corps eliminated the Russian personnel sheltering at the location.

During this period, Russian troops have continuously searched for weaknesses in the city’s defenses, adjusting their tactics, reinforcing units, and probing for potential breakthroughs. Despite sustained pressure, Ukrainian forces have held Myrnohrad, repeatedly disrupting Russian plans.
The situation in and around the city remains difficult. At the same time, Ukrainian commanders note that since the beginning of the year, Russian forces have reduced overt, large-scale assault operations and instead intensified infiltration efforts aimed at slipping into central areas of the city.
To prevent further enemy advances, Ukrainian Defense Forces are conducting ongoing search-and-strike operations in Myrnohrad and along its approaches.

Earlier, Ukrainian drone operators from the unmanned systems battalion of the 63rd Mechanized Brigade showed a series of strikes against Russian troops in the Serebriansky Forest.
The footage, published on the unit’s official channel, captures multiple moments in which Russian troops attempt to evade aerial surveillance and attack drones—with no success.
In one sequence, a Russian soldier is seen trying to hide behind a tree to avoid detection before making a desperate attempt to knock the drone down using his hat. When that fails, he breaks into a run, only to be struck moments later.
