Operators of Ukrainian bomber drones destroyed a heavily fortified Russian strongpoint on the South Slobozhansky axis, dismantling what Ukrainian defenders described as a full-fledged “underground city” of enemy positions, according to the State Border Guard Service, which released combat footage on December 16.

Until recently, Russian forces had built an extensive defensive hub in this sector, featuring interconnected dugouts, covered shelters, and command-and-observation posts linked by trenches and underground passages.

Ukrainian drone crews referred to the position as an “underground city,” a nickname reflecting both its scale and complexity.

Following the strike, however, nothing remained but a fading thermal signature on operators’ screens—the aftermath of a precise and methodical attack by a Vampire heavy bomber drone.

The large unmanned aircraft worked through the position step by step, striking one dugout after another and systematically collapsing shelters and firing points.

Within a short time, the fortified area was rendered unusable, forcing surviving Russian troops to withdraw deeper into their rear positions.

According to Army Inform, the operation was carried out by operators from the Hart Brigade. The drone crew, known as “Rover,” is led by a fighter with the callsign Somali, a unit commander who previously served as an infantryman before rising to lead one of the most effective bomber-drone teams operating in the sector.

Earlier, the Hart Brigade recalled how heavy bomber drones “Vampire” have repeatedly proven their reliability.
