US Special Representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are set to make their first visit to Kyiv on Sunday, September 6, as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed. The US envoys expected to meet with Zelenskyy to discuss Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The visit came after reports from Axios indicated that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would first travel to Moscow on Friday, September 4, where they were scheduled to hold discussions with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Saturday, September 5.

Ukrainian and American officials noted that a potential visit to Kyiv had been under discussion for several months.
US President Donald Trump stated during an Oval Office briefing that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will bring a peace proposal to end Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine to talks in Moscow and Kyiv on September 5 and 6.
Trump also asserted that his direct interactions with the Kremlin leader give him confidence regarding Putin's plans toward the alliance, stating that Russian leader Vladimir Putin will have no intention of attacking NATO territory.
