Donald Trump also asserted that his direct interactions with the Kremlin leader give him confidence regarding Putin's plans toward the alliance. He stated that Russian leader Vladimir Putin has no intention of attacking NATO territory.

"I speak with Putin, I know him very well," Trump said during the press briefing. "Putin has no intention of attacking NATO territory."

The US president also commented on the relationship between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia, highlighting deep personal conflict as a barrier to resolving Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The remarks follow earlier statements made on August 27, when Trump indicated he was entirely unconcerned about potential Russian aggression toward NATO member states.

When asked about potential Russian provocative actions against the alliance, he stated that he was not worried at all and that there was no problem whatsoever.

Previously, CIA Director John Ratcliffe made an unannounced visit to Moscow, where he sought to persuade Russian leadership that its position was weak and that further escalation would only worsen its circumstances.

However, his efforts failed to convince Vladimir Putin to make concessions on Ukraine, and the Kremlin instead hardened its stance.

Following the meetings, Russian forces intensified strikes on Kyiv, signaling to Washington that Moscow intended to continue its offensive without shifting to a more flexible position.
